I shot Love Bites this week! 25.09.

Woman #2 may not have a name, but she is good & annoying and has 2 fun scenes in the new NBC comedy Love Bites.  Love Bites is a midseason replacement starring Becki Newton of Ugly Betty.  It probably won’t air until January.

The show is full of great guest stars – I met Demitri Martin, Guillermo Diaz, and episode writer Larry Wilmore (of Daily Show fame.)  Jeffrey Tambor is also in my episode.

I met Blyth Nailling in a casting workshop which is how I got called in for this.  I will let you know when it is going to air!

The Kind Strangers nailed it in Austin! 13.09.

We brought our boozy brand of improvised Tennessee Williams to the Austin Out of Bounds improv festival over Labor Day weekend. The bats evaded us at the bat bridge, but we played to two packed houses and standing ovations!

Being Prepared Never Felt So Good! 20.10.

I met with a new voiceover agent last week.  I had forwarded her my demo before our appointment.  As soon as I sat down in her office she told me she loved my reel and had submitted it for a job.  10 minutes later her phone rang – I was booked!  I work today recording 4 radio spots for Old Navy.

I put that demo together a few years ago.  A former agent and CD, Nancy Wolfson, offers classes and then produces a CD for you.  It is expensive but served me well in securing my first voiceover agent – ICM.  ICM closed their department not long after I signed there, but the agents struck out on their own and became DPN.  I was a little fish in a big pond and never really found my footing at that agency, although I earned enough to pay back my investment in VO classes, my demo production, and still have a few bucks leftover.  Also, learning in the booth from the pros has made me confident that with the right agent I could make this a strong facet of my career.

I’ve got a new agent and a great first job.  I’m psyched my demo is still working for me… this never would have happened without putting the work in.

THE BREAKDOWN premieres at the LA Independent Television Festival! 02.08.

Last Spring I shot a sitcom spec about a commercial casting office. I was cast as series regular Alexandra, the quirky assistant. The project was written and directed by Bobby Montero, who helmed one helluva professional shoot on this independently funded project. The cast is great, the script is hilarious, and the show was shot with Sony RED cameras so it looks awesome!

The show was accepted into the 4th Annual Los Angeles Independent Television Festival and will compete in the comedy category. Screenings are 8/1 and 8/5.

Last Thursday night we walked the red carpet at the opening gala. I even got the stinkeye!
